Default 3rd model Russian Tula copy

I posted pictures of this one a while back. I am still wondering about the serial number. This one doesn't seem to have one. If I am correct, It should be at the end of the barrel markings. I finally figured out how to get clear close up pictures.
Does anyone have any idea of a value on this gun?

Thanks
Wingmaster

It does appear to be a Tula copy of a 3rd model Russian. Perhaps one of our European members can give us an English translation of the barrel stampings. I would estimate the value in the US is less than what a Tula specimen will bring. Ed.

The barrel inscription translates pretty much as "Imperial Tula Model Factory 1890". Not sure what the final letter signifies.

The last letter is Russian "G", it stands for God, which is year in Russian. All Imperial and most Soviet weapons had this mark after the date. The rest reads "Imperial Tula Armory factory" Oruzhenniye, is closest to gunsmith or armorer. Your gun is a really nice version. I would say the S&W guys would go for it in the 750 to 1000 range. The Imperial Russian collectors probably more.

Thanks guys.
The meaning of the barrel markings is very interesting. The knowledge of this group of people amazes me.
Thanks again

Wingmaster, whilst the serial number is missing from the barrel address, as it is a Tula military contract, the number will also be found on the cylinder and on the bottom of the butt, pics attached of 2555 as an example. When the German Ludwig Loewe contracts finished, the Russians purchased the gun making machinery from Loewe and installed at Tula.I used to own serial number 33 dating from 1886, which is illustrated in Jinks and Neale, the last known year of production is 1896 in the 31,000 range, I say 'known' as none others have surfaced later than 1896. Easy to ascertain the start but not so simple for the last year in the absence of factory records
For your revolver dated 1890 the number should sit in the lower 20000 range.
Value wise S&W collectors will pay more for a S&W manufactured revolver, however having owned a few over the years, in USD from $1000 upwards, depending on condition, most are around $2000, something exceptional will always fetch top price
Wingmaster, if you ever decide to part with it , I will always trade you a S&W , as I collect mainly military contract S&W's including the licence made revolvers
Hope that helps
David

That's a pity, that means you can't collect the 1907 Mosin Nagant carbines which were only made at Izveshk :-(
