Default .32 New Departure Problem

Good evening,
I have just aquired a 3rd Model .32 Lemon Squeezer in the 184,xxx range.
I need to disassemble it as the cylinder does not index. Problem is I cannot get the hammer stud nut to budge. I have already broken 2 screwdriver tips.
Any help ?

WB

Soak the gun in Kroil or ATF Transmission fluid mixed with Acetone, or WD 40 for a couple of weeks and try again. ( I'm assuming you have already tried heating the nut with a butane torch, and you have removed the side plate and given the action a good cleaning & oiling.) Ed.

I need to get the hammer stud nut off before I can remove the sideplate.
Will heating the pistol with a torch damage the nickel finish ? Is it common to have to heat the pistol to get this nut to loosen ?
The pistol has approx. 90% nickel finish remaining.

A hair drier will do a pretty good job of heating it and will not damage the nickel. Also try putting a properly-sized screwdriver bit in the slot and give it a sharp whack before trying to unscrew it. If you have a drill press you can also chuck up a screwdriver bit and block up the gun so that it will stay in place while you turn the bit with a small wrench.

Don't bother trying to loosen it with some sort of solvent, as the screw "caps" the hammer stud. The only way you're going to get a solvent in there is to soak the entire gun as Ed suggested.
