Default newbie with a model no 2

Hello, I am new to the forum and have acquired a blued 6" model 2 with a serial number of 6158. the gun appears to be in original condition. possibly looking to sell or trade , and wondering what is the best way to go about putting an accurate price on it and gaing some of its history. thank you for any suggestions.

With the 6xxx serial number, your revolver most likely was carried during the Civil War and yours would have been manufactured in 1862. Over 77,000 were made from 1861 to 1872, with about 8000 made in 1862.

I can not open your link, so can not comment on value or condition, but these old 32 rimfire revolvers continue to be in demand.

Toetag, welcome to the forum. A quick check of a popular on-line site turned up 3 model #2s. One, starting at $275 with no bids. Another was listed with a $3000 opening bid, again with no bids and a third listed with an opening bid of $500. This, of course, tells us absolutely nothing. Sorry.

My personal feeling based on what I have seen at local gun shows is that, assuming your gun functions and is in average condition, the price would be in the $700 to $1200 range.

I have #66XX and per my letter from Mr. Jinks it was shipped in August, 1862.
