I'm not sure about two examples, I did examine a prototype many years ago that was in the factory collection and I assume it's still there, probably in the collection archived at the CVHM. It's a good sized handgun. There's a picture of it in Roy Jink's book, "The History of Smith & Wesson." The .44 Safety was announced early in the advertising for the new Safety Hammerless line of revolvers, along with the .32 and .38 Safeties, but was never put into production. Ed.
