I know this a little off base on the S&W forum, but i know somebody here will be able to get me a straight answer. I have this little H&R Victor solid frame pull-pin revolver. I've shot CB shorts in it, no problem. How about standard vel. shorts or the CB Longs from CCI with the 29gr. bullet? Any comments will be appreciated. Hunman

Is the cyl long enough for 22 LR? I have owned a few of the old 22
revolvers in the past, none at present time. What is the caliber
stamping on the barrel? The pull pin guns are solid frame revolvers.
I would say it would be safe with high speed shorts and standard vel
LR. If it was mine I wouldn't shoot high speed LR in it.

Victors are early 20th century revolvers, and I think some were made up until WWII. As such, assuming yours is in sound condition, you should be able to shoot any .22 ammunition now available in it. Personally, I would use nothing stouter than standard velocity loads. .22 Short standard velocity loads would be ideal, but those are difficult to find.

Thanks, guys. The cyl. is too short for 22lr. 22 longs fit about right. The CCI CB longs work but there is terrible accuracy-most keyhole ay abour 20ft. CB shorts shoot a little better, but not much. I'm trying to find standard vel. shorts. Hunman
Interesting - I get very good accuracy with CB Longs. It may be that the rifling is worn or gone??

Lotsa luck on finding the .22 SV Shorts. Since Olympic Rapid Fire switched to .22 LR, I imagine no one is even making those now. You may find some, but will probably pay dearly for them if you do. Even Hi-Vel shorts aren't seen much at present.

hunman, take off the grip panels. If the hammer spring is flat, it was made for BP ammo. If coil, it was made for smokeless, and should be ok to shoot modern standard velocity .22 in it. I doubt it is a black powder revolver, but if it should prove to be, it would still be OK to shoot very very occasionally with lighter loads, like maybe CB's...but be aware the parts might become worn quicker with smokeless ammo if it is a BP gun.
H&R made some pretty strong revolvers in the early 20th century and a lot of them are still around and still family heirlooms.
