I am going to possibly trade for this tonight. And need to know all I can before I go to look. These are the pictures I have right now. I am going to look over my books this evening, but am excited as I have been wanting a civil war era gun for quite a while, so I thought I would go ahead and ask before hand here. Any help with information is greatly appreciated!

This is a model 2 Army in .32 rimfire. I don't have my serial number reference handy but someone should be able to advise you if it is in the "Civil War range". It looks fairly well-preserved and original. Hope this is helpful.

By my reference, I am seeing under 35731 could have seen civil war usage. Looks like it is very close but no cigar. I still might give it a go. Any other info anybody might have, please let me know.

Yes, It's Civil War era, but poor condition puts it in the lower range of values for this model. No original finish left and quite a bit of pitting on the surfaces. It's been rode hard and put away wet, but that may give it the character you look for in Civil War relics. If all parts are original, the assembly codes should match on the barrel, cylinder and frame. The back side of the right grip will have the serial number stamped on it, if the grips are original. Ed.

According to the Standard Catalog of S&W 3rd edition, Civil War usage cutoff serial number for 1864 is 29359 and for 1865 is 48475.

I hate to ask here, but here goes, my guide only lists values for good and above condition. What is the lower end value on these?

According to the Standard Catalog of S&W 3rd edition, Fair $300, Poor $200, but this is 2006 publication.
Blue Book 34th edition 2013, 10%-$375.00, 20%-$400.00.

A Model 2 with sn 30XXX was shipped 11/1864. Another examle with sn 37XXX shipped in 04/1865, so anything later is most likely post-Civil War. I have not seen one of these in any condition sell at auction for less than $300 in the last couple of years.
