Default Inherited my grandfathers safety hammerless

I've inherited my grandfather's 38 S&W safety hammerless with a serial number of 241367. Can anyone tell me which model this is and an approximate date of manufacture?

If I'm reading my book right, that serial number should be a Fifth Model, made between 1907-1940. Doesn't narrow it down much. The serial numbers for that model run from 220,000 to 261,493. I'm sure someone more in the know will chime in.

I can't tell the difference between that gun and my Fourth Model. Does it have a pinned front sight?

Nice inheritance!

sigp+numbers is correct that you have a 38 Safety, 5th Model. That serial number shipped in the mid teens. By the second decade of the Twentieth Century, the Safety Hammerless revolvers became slow movers and the company probably had large inventories. S&W did not ship in serial number order, so yours could have shipped anywhere from 1914 to 1917. 241XXX shipped in April 1914, while 243XXX shipped in 1917.

The 5th Model front sight was forged with the barrel, and your picture does not show a pin under the sight.
