Help Identifying Old Box
It's a hinged cardboard box for what I assume was a small revolver.
The box measures 7 1/2" long, 3" wide, and 1 1/4" high. Any help identifying this would be greatly appreciated. The box isn't in the best shape, but I'm sure someone out there would appreciate having it. I think the cleaning rod in the box is original too.

Those boxes are getting really hard to find. The "one" I have is from the early 1890's, and I still haven't found a gun to go in it yet.

The gun to go in it sure would be nice, but looking around online it's way out of my price range.

I decent one shouldn't cost more than $300. I picked up one in what I would consider very good condition in nickle for $200. Not sure what your price range is though.

Welcome to the Forum. S&W began placing end labels on boxes around 1880. The earliest were the Double Action models. Initially, green labels were used for Blued guns and Orange was used for Nickel guns.
32 DA boxes in your condition would probably bring $75 to $100 and they sell very well on ebay. If you are interested in obtaining a wide audience I would post it on ebay for auction. I believe your box could have been for a 2nd or an early 3rd Model. The original cleaning rod should add value. Check the bottom of the box for a serial number and we can date it accurately.
I have a 2nd Model that was originally nickel and the box with the orange label from the same era.

Unfortunately there isn't any discernible print on the bottom of the box, so no serial number. Thank you all for the excellent information. It was really neat to learn just how old this box may be.
