S&W Furnished Guns for 1920 Olympic Handgun Team
From the back page of the United States Revolver Association's report to the 1920 U.S. Olympic Committee by R H Sayre. The first photo shows written evidence of Colt Camp Perry [prototype?] in the 50 meters pistol match [which were single shot .22] although most of team was known to shoot the S&W single shot, which one would assume were the 3rd models due to the fact 2nd photo shows all handguns were furnished to the team by Smith & Wesson and Colt. Does anyone know if they were allowed to keep the guns, or were they returned to the company. The Colt historian has no knowledge of Colt furnishing any at all.

I'll hazard a guess either the team (per se) or the individual members thereof were allowed to keep the pistols------if for no other reason than it would be good for business------not to mention it would be bad for business if S&W took them back---and someone mumble-grumbled about it. It is written somewhere that some mumble-grumbling is bad, more's worse, and too much is too much!!

Ah, yes. James H Snook, 1920 Olympic medalist, veterinarian, inventor of the Snook spay hook, and convicted of murder and executed by the State of Ohio in 1930.
