Default Single Shot Barrel Reline?

I have a a first model .22 tip-up single shot target.

SN 22367.

I have tried a few different types of ammo, and most bullets shot from it seem to tumble and keyhole.....while a very few make the anticipated .22-sized round hole in a paper target.

As such, it seems the barrel (which has very pitted rifling) is shot out.

Does anyone reline these barrels.....ideally with the later Olympic rifling that requires a firm thumb to seat the round fully?

Any hints, ideas, or leads appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I think if it was mine I’d try a DIY project. Brownell’s has all I’d need it would make for a fun little job.

My knee-jerk reaction:

If (IF) the exterior is in very good condition---very good, then relining the barrel makes some sense---purely from a dollars and cents point of view (unless the DIY project mentioned above is within your capabilities).

Beyond that, I have no idea who/where to go to have it done (although Chris Hirsch comes to mind as a gunsmith to talk to). He did a job for me, and the results fair boggle the mind!!

Default info

It can be done, H M Pope re-lined all the S&W single shots he modified for customers, they came with the short chambers & left hand twist rifling.

I'd contact John Taylor
He's in Lewiston ID

Does a lot of re-line work for the SingleShot rifle crowd.
He does all sorts of other specialty gun work as well.
A .22 breakopen pistol would be no problem I'm sure. The 'Olympic' style chamber may not an issue either, but email him thru his contact info.

He uses hammer-forged liners, not button rifled.
I've used the same liners from the same source and I can attest to the fact that they are much smoother rifled.
