For my special friend (Ed C) aka opoefc. Yesterday I found this New Mod # 3 Target # 34092, Cal. 44 Russian in Germany.
The gun has its original blueing and all numbers match. I would rate the revolver as excellent/excellent+. The former owner told me that he acquired it in Switzerland 18 years ago, where it was part of a big auction.

The SCSW#2 is kinda hard to interpret, but I would say 1902 thereabouts.

Paul, Congrats! That's a great find. Beautiful New Model # 3 target model! Serial # 34673 was shipped June 15, 1904, so your gun is probably close to that but as you know Paul, S&W shipping dates can sometimes be all over the calender. For example, ser.# 35087 didn't leave the factory until May of 1917, 4 yrs. after the model was dropped from the catalog! For those of you who don't know Paul, he and his son are probably the outstanding S&W collectors in Germany and regularily make the trip over to the US to attend annual meetings of the S&W Collectors Assn.
