Where or who did the later Safety Hammerless models with the walnut grips ship to? SCSW says some were rumored to have gone to the Post Office. Have any lettered as such?

That rumor has been floating around for quite a while. I'm sure that the post office bought some. But I was told by the Late Bill Maier, who had the greatest Safety Hammerless collection ever assembled, that they bought them all from large distributers, and that none would letter as going to the post office. If anyone has a 38 Safety that letters directly to the post office, I would sure like to hear about it.

I agree with mark, in fact I've never seen a .38 Safety hammerless model that had a Post Office background that could be verified. Regulation Police, yes, Model 1917s, yes, Model 45s, yes, but New departures -no.
