Just got an old Model 1, 3rd Issue, .22 cal., it is in great shape. I have a couple questions ...

1. Will it handle modern .22 short ammo ?
2. Anyone collect these ? What is it worth ?

Thanks,
Rick

Only if you can find some black powder shorts.
So, in a word...No.
If you really want to shoot it you might try a few CB Caps. I wouldn't stress it much. These little guys are pretty fragile.
Value?, I haven't followed the pricing on these recently, but I would imagine in the 150-250 range. (It doesn't look like there is any finish left.) Maybe someone that is more up-to-date will chime in.

Although NOT recommended, I have shot both my Second and Third tip-ups. DO NOT EVER use modern high-velocity shorts. I've shot mine sparingly, just to say I'd done it using .22 Short CBs. .22 BB caps should be fine also. (essentially, these are just a primer and a bullet with little or no powder)
