Default Newly acquired 38-44 Outdoorsman

Sent out a few flyers on the correct ammo for my 38-44, and Mr. Ray Giles was kind enough to sell me his one and only box of the correct 1940 vintage High Speed ammo with the 38-44 Outdoorsman callout on the back. I have found out that these and the others marked on front, are extremely hard to find. Thanks again Ray. Big Larry

Great find.

The box of 38-44 I have is labeled "Steel Point" on the dog bone box.

Mine say metal point.
But do have two different wordings after 38-44

Glad to hear you found a box. Larry

Great ammo - but this thread needs a photo of the guns designed to sling it... This is the only box of 38-44 Ammo in my collection.

Richard,
This one does not have all those scratches on it and plastic grips!

Some ammo too:

Enjoy!

The Dog Bone ammo is too early for my revolver. The picture shown is ammo from 1940, and so is my revolver # 62022. Pictures are in another thread. Still, I am looking for some 38-44 Dog Bone. Big Larry

Bill:

First: We both know where those "plastic grips" came from - and if you ever want to turn loose another set like them - please shoot me an email. I know they went from Ohio to you first, but I believe that KB was subliminally channeling my O/D while Phil Quigley was banging out the engraving. Those grips were made for that scratched up O/D and fit like the engraved pinto was used as a template - thanks for sending them my way.

Second note - That 4" HD with the HBH is probably the nicest prewar 4" HD out there in any collection. I remember seeing that beauty in person when it lived in Scottsdale and I am glad that it landed in your pasture. It really is THE prime example of HD art. Thanks for sharing it again,

Thank you Richard, and yes I know where the grips came from, but I needed something to get you to respond! I don't have anymore and I would send them to you if I did. Yes I wish we could find some more 4" HDs like this one!
