Looks like that serial number is 1952 from the Std catalog of S&W 3rd edition.

The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson , 3rd Edition by Nahas & Supica. Even better, for shipping dates, would be to join the Smith & Wesson Collector's Association and Mr Roy Jinks, the factory historian, will give you the month & year shipped, on line.

Welcome to the Forum.
What caliber is your revolver? Is this number taken from the butt and is there a prefix letter present, such as "C", "D", "K", etc?

Post 1915. If the stamping "MADE IN U.S.A." is on the right side of the frame, that stamping appeared in mid 1922, IIRC.
I'm sure one of our M&P experts will come along soon and will be able to pin down the date better than I.

To those of you posting additional and different guns to this thread, just a suggestion. Start a new thread and include photos from all angles. Many folks only look at threads whose title interests them and if the original posters gun is different from yours folks knowledgeable about your type of gun may never open this thread.
Just a thought.

This thread is a good example of getting off-track.
