Is it a mistake? I have a 1917 S&W from WWI I had the calling for a S&W 1911....I almost came on here and sold my 1917 to buy a 1911....

It would be a mistake if it were me. They don't make those revolvers any more and 1911's seem to practically grow on trees.

Only if you are willing to take a clone.
Original M1911 are getting hard to come by.
I think my Colt M1911 made in 1918 may be worth more than a 1917 made about the same time.
