These are the correct grips (except the top left set):

If you are asking what they look like, they look like this:

If you are asking where to buy some, post a wanted ad in the classifieds forum. They also turn up on ebay from time to time.

Hey, just ask jeremyws1 if any of his are for sale!

By the way, the correct stocks should have a flat bottom - the photo of the top left pair in Jeremy's post have rounded bottoms, and are known as the PC (for plainclothes) style. You will see a fair number of similar stocks, but your correct ones need to have the diamond surround on the stock screw, as shown in all six pair in the photo. These will be harder to find, but keep looking.

Welcome, and enjoy!

VM had some 1950s N-frame diamond stocks that might do the trick for you. Saw them at his gun show table last weekend. He is a member of this forum. Hope this helps.

This brings up a question for me. I recently bought a pre model 28 Highway Patrolman that was built in 57 I am told. It came with Hogue grips and I would like to get a pair of correct time frame grips. When did S&W stop using the diamonds around the grip screw? I think mine should have the diamonds, but want to make sure before I buy a set.

Diamonds were phased out in about 1967, give or take. Diamonds would be correct for your pre-28.

I recently acquired a pre 28 that has diamond target grips. First time I have seen target grips that are numbered to the gun. SN is S 1305xx. The stamping is in two lines without the prefix, just as you would expect magnas to be.

The responses I see on this thread seem to indicate that original grips for the pre 28 should be diamond magnas, couldn't N targets with no relief be in order as well?

Yes, by the 1954 production date per the SN, and especially the matching number, yours probably came (factory special ordered?) with the non-relieved targets.
