My Pre 27 8 Inch Target Model 38/357 W Harlow Ropers
I guess its been about 4 or 5 months ago my
bud daddio202 was fussing about me only having
4 inch or less Smiths. So I set about correcting that and started a search on a nice Target Pre 27 S&W longer barrel piece. One very nice Smith showed up presently so I went to bidding on the major online auction. I stuck w it til the end and now possess this practically new long barrel 1955ish 38/357 pre 27 Target pkg w a Presentation Case. This Smith has practically no wear and is better than I hoped for on its Like New condition !!
It also was wearing a factory non-relieved set of
target grips😁.. When I recovered from the buy
I set about aquiring a more substantial but functional set of Roper style Grips for this
beauty. Our Curtis Harlow provided me with the
Ropers you see here.. They are longer with more substantial palm swells that exactly
fit my hand for a one hand or 2 hand hold on
target paper. I cant say or bragg enuf on Curts skills and manner bringing his terrific
Roper creations to us. The whole pkg has
turned out well for my modest means I accumulated over about 6 months or so.
Hope you enjoy the story on it along with some pictures.. I included some pics of my
"Mad Scientist " cluttered desk. Ive been working on the unfinished Ropers for about
5-7 days at this point on their finish.. For me
(and maybe many of you).. my grip finishes are an ever evolving process..Curt will provide the finish of your choice. I have some of each and all are terrific...Pay no attention on the side gaps on the Roper Grips.. they are not pulled up snug and the screw is loose(including me..) So...here ya go...Palm swell pics for ole Froggie...
Thanks a Bunch 😁😁
Randy

Hello Richard and Skilled from Gawja😁😁
Fortunately for me Ive realized the affection
many of you have for the long tube Smiths.
They have a graceful quality about them that
one may not appreciate til you hold one in hand. I'm lucky I found out about Curtis(Curt) Harlows extremely profound craftsmanship
creating the fabulous grips pictured on my
post here. I'm pleased the members find
it interesting and hopefully informative on
Our member's Curt Harlows fine work in our midst..
I added a few more pictures to show his Roper work on the Pre 27 and the 38/44 Outdoorsman wearing his Roper Grip creations for you guys pleasure..
Still working on the pic orientation..duh.
Thanks for your comments..

This particular pair of grips comes about as close to fulfilling my vision of the all around “perfect” revolver grips I’ve ever seen. When I win the Powerball Jackpot I now know how my 3 K frame Masterpieces will be reshod. Thanks for sharing,
Froggie

Grips are darker than they appear...flash makes them appear to be lighter in color FYI..
