Default Pre model 26,s in Nickel only two known.

Hi
well I don't post a lot but I guess these have not been posted before.
These two Premodel 26,s in 45 ACP have been in my collection for over
30 Years, and have been displayed at the NRA shows 4 times so if you were at any of these you have seen them.
I will give you the story behind these. These two revolvers were ordered by a town police chief in Iowa, in 1951 he wanted a pair of nickel revolvers to use in parades on his horse. He had a set of holsters made for them. He was a lawman so he had to have Smith & wessons.
After he died his family gave them to a friend that did gun shows to sell for them. Well he made it up to Montana in 1985 Billings was the town where the show was. He had them on his table with the holsters for sale
in 1985 he wanted a lot of money for them, will I looked at them about 20 times during the show and on sunday with the help from my wife
we came up with enought money to buy them. I didn't know how rare they were until I talked to Ray cheely. He had Nickel 1950 44 Specials and always wanted one but between him and I we decided that they should stay together.
and they will stay together and go to one of my sons.

thanks for the time
Jim Fisher S&WCA 1491.

Jim, let me help you with the photo code.

Those are beauties. I hadn't seen them before, so I appreciate the opportunity to do so now. Great story to go with them!

Default pre 26 nickels

thanks david
I don't post enought and forget how to do the pictures.
the guns are both about 98% because I don't think they have been
shot much only carried to shows after I got them.
the grips are both of the same wood so they were made up as a pair.

Jim,
Very nice looking guns...I have a weakness for early nickel Smith's. By any chance are they consecutive numbers?

Jim...Good to see the winter in MT hasn't worn you down. The pair is really something to see and I am sure the forum members will appreciate seeing a very, very rare pair of 45 Targets.

Jim, you mention that they will go to "one" of your sons. Gosh, I really hate to think of you having to be like Solomon and deciding between yours sons and obviously, you can not break up the pair.

Let me offer you an alternative, since I am an only son, you could give them to me and there will be no brother to upset. Your sons will feel better as you didn't choose between them and they will live happy knowing that they have a good home. Please feel free to email me for mailing instructions. Thanks again Dad.

Jim, Really beautiful pair of Smiths.

Curis those aren't early nickel guns. Early nickel guns are almost 100 years older than that.

Thanks for posting. When I've had the pleasure of seeing your displays at the NRA conventions the only problem that I've had is that I have to stand well back to Keep my "drool" from rusting your fine display. Once again, thanks for posting. All my very best, Joe.

Amazing guns and holsters! Thanks for sharing the photos and story. By the way - do I count loops for 19 bullets? Odd number, I would think.

Best Regards,
