Default ? about 32 Hand Ejector 3rd model

Hi everyone. I'm new to these forums...want to say hello and ask some questions.

I have what appears to be a 32 Hand Ejector 3rd model, but it has some features that appear inconsistant with others I've found on the net.

I can't find any serious S&W collectors locally to answer my questions so it seems to me this is the place to come.

My pics are pretty poor, but I think you can see the features in question.

The next pic shows the back of the grip frame with a cut that I haven't seen in pics of other 32 Hand Ejectors.

This one shows the bottom of the grip frame with no serial no. It also lacks the bevel on the toe that seems to be present on others.

And here is the SN on the front of the grip frame...it also appears on the flat under the barrel.

This shows "Made in USA" stamped on the right side of the frame.

All other marks on the barrel and frame are consistant with other 32 Hand Ejectors that I've seen.

Can anyone tell me exactly what I have here?

I apperciate any help you can give me.

Jerry

Hi Jerry

You have a pre-WWII 32 Regulation Police. Stocks should have a patent date stamped on the bottom if you have them. These were made from about 1917-1942. The serial number range is mixed in with the 32 HE 3rd.

Thanks for the welcome and quick reply Pace.

I don't have the original stocks. Other than that it has some blueing wear on the muzzle, cylinder and top strap. Also a few spots of surface rust with no pitting and no serious dings or scratches. Chambers and barrel are clean and rust free with sharp rifleing. I'd guess overall condition to be 70% or so but I could easily be way off the mark, having very little experience with collectible guns.

Should I expect the value to be comparable to other 32 Hand Ejector models and is there any reason why I shouldn't shoot it with appropriate lead bullet loads?

Thank you
Jerry

Yes; no.

The gripframe is rebated, hence the "step" in the frame. The correct grips give the revolver a square butt profile.
