Default Late serial# 5 screw 29

Is it me, or is this a late serial (S174590) for a 5 screw 29?

Here is a pic---unless the seller transposed the serial number
wrong. Pete

I have S174511 which is also a 5-screw pre-29. It was shipped 12/27/57.

I have a pristine five-screw NT-430, #S173938, with 10-groove backstarp, shipped in July of 57. S&W shipped an unknown number of .44 Magnums with five-screw configuration and 10-groove backstraps which were serial numbered in the high S173000 to S174000 range in 1957.

I've owned two in the last 30 plus years. Although we will never know, I would hazard a guess that the number shipped was fairly low.

It would be interesting to hear how many Roy has actually lettered.

Jim
