Model 29 finish
This may be a stupid question but here goes, did S&W offer anything other than bright high polish blue or nickel in 1960 for the model 29 ?

Welcome to the forum
In short, no. The only cataloged finishes offered was the blue and nickel options. That's not to say you couldnt special order a matte finish or something. I would expect though any finish other than bright blue or nickel is aftermarket

I have never seen one (that old), but a two-tone (bright blue/nickel) could probably be ordered. The earliest one I have ever seen dates to 1965 and was a special order.

I thought blue or nickel only, but asked to be sure.
