Default Ugly Duckling

Back in July I got this Smith and Wesson Model 1905, 4th Change from a friend. I somehow missed sharing with this forum due to travel to Alaska with the wife to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. This gun is fun.

That's not ugly, that's character.

Look at my picture and you'll understand.

And in 32-20, a fun caliber to shoot especially if you reload.

A four-inch .32-20: too cool!

In the same sort of shape I have a .38 Model of 1903/First (four-inch, round butt) that is a delight to take to the range. A little used-looking on the outside, but the action is tight and the bore is clean. Can't beat an old-timer, which gives me hope because every day I more and more take on the characteristics of one.

That simply shows normal use of 90+ years. Not abused at all. I'd be proud to put it in my safe or one of my display cases (and shoot it occasionally since that's what it was made for). I sure hope I'm in that good condition when I'm 90!

If ya got a tromp about in mind that would be a fine one to stick in a holster!

Very charming piece, very charming indeed. A safe queen is lovely to look at, but that has it's own charm for sure.

Default Ugly? Hardly!

The toll of years passed and duties performed now reveal its elegant essence - unimpaired and resolute.
