Default S&W Model 37 J Frame Revolver

Going to look at a Model 37 J frame this weekend to purchase.
The seller is asking for $325.00. I have seen pictures and talked with him. Gun seems to be in Good Condition and he claims that it works well. All original grips and parts. DOB 1958-1960
My Question is , Is $325.00 a Fair price for it?
I live in MA.
Welcome all comments and replies.

Well I did purchase the Model 37 Revolver. It Locks up super, a light bit of pitting on 1 cylinder, a few wear spots on the frame (more like tiny chips on the finish). I am real happy with it, Pictures posted, early serial # 1777XX, Please DOB. Please comment.

If it is in as good condition as he says, that's not a bad price.

I don't think you will find a good one cheaper except in rare or geographically inconvenient circumstances. If I wanted a 37, I'd go for the one you describe at the price you report.

Thumbs up

It should have a Flatlatch and Diamond Grips. If you pass on it,let me know!! I collect Flatlatch Snubbies. Make sure you check for Frame Cracks!!

For some reason the Airweight j-frames seen to be a little more reasonably priced. This '56 pre-model 37 set me back a whopping $329 a few weeks ago...

I was fortunate enough to find a S&W Model 37, 4 inch, nickel with original grips, papers, box just like NIB except it was test fired three shots - not three times, three shots. The cylinder shows the only three fired - other than the aforementioned, it's mint. I gladly paid $475. I have S&W's that have never been fired in my collection but just because it's part of a collection doesn't mean I wouldn't hesitate to use them as a cc or on the range.

Phenomenal thread resurrection, and it's way past Easter! Anyway, I, too, would like to see pics of the 4" barrel model 37, most unusual. BTW, J-frames were test fired at the factory with three rounds, so it would appear that your's may very well be unfired after the factory test firing.

310Pilot,
Yes - the seller did tell me that the 37 was just purchased, oiled and stored away, just in case or for an emergency. I'll post some pics asap.
