Default "K-32/20?"

AFAIK there was never such a beast catalogued, but does anyone know of a documented case where the equivalent, ie an all target K-frame in .32/20 was specially ordered and factory built? I guess it would be possible to build one even now using a K-32 and a custom fit .32/20 cylinder, but who could even afford the donor gun? Just idle curiosity, I guess, but I'm still curious none the less!

TIA ~ Froggie

I believe there were no .32-20 revolvers produced after WW2, so if you are asking about a postwar Masterpiece-style K-frame target revolver in .32-20, you are going to be disappointed.

But the 1905 M&P was chambered in .32-20 in the prewar decades, and some of those were made with adjustable sights. You could look for one of those and just deal with the tiny rear sight assembly. Or you could get a beat-up old .32-20, mill the frame to accept the more recent micrometer click style of rear sight, replace the front blade, and make yourself the hybrid adjustable sight .32-20 of your dreams.

There were some early .32-20 Target Models that were custom ordered in .32 Long. I sold a 4 incher to a member here a couple years ago who has posted photos. I have never heard of a dual cylinder convertible from the factory, but, yes, one could have a good gunsmith put one together. A Model 16-4 in .32 H&R Mag with a .22 LR cylinder to rechamber would work. Cheaper than starting with a K-32 but still kind of pricey. The .32 H&R cartridge willl do anything that the .32-20 cartridge will, except shoot well through a Winchester or Marlin! Not practical, but we shooters do lots of impractical stuff because it is fun or seemed like a good idea at the time.

I have started a fair number of explanations of personal adventures by beginning with, "Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time."

Amen and amen! This is one of those speculation things that keeps bubbling to the surface periodically. I have a brown M&P .32/20 that I could "target-ize" but I just want to know what is really out there before the "good idea" reaches "the time!"

Thanks to all who responded!

Its not at all unusual to find a prewar .32-20 target. I bought one last spring from David Carroll. Its a dead ringer for a prewar K32, or K22, or M&P Target. I bought mine because I wanted it to complete my group of K targets. The price was even pretty reasonable, considering who I bought it from!

You see the guns all the time. Most are military/non-target guns. But its not at all unusual to find a target version. It just takes looking. Don't know why you'd want a post war gun when prewar models are fairly easy to come by.

Oh, and David had one in just about perfect condition for only $2900!

But if you buy a K32 and pay for conversion work, you're there.

What about the Wondersight? Looking at my 32-20 revolvers, it should fit with no modification to the gun, other than substituting the mounting screw.
