Default 32 hand ejector

My father in law has just given me 2 smiths that I am trying to find out about, when made, value etc.
The first is a .32 hand ejector 2in barrel have the original red box with papers about 90-95%. Serial # is 602xxx.
The second one is a model 37chief's special airweight with 3in barrel. Original blue box about 90%. Serial # is j654xxx. I believe this was made in mid to late 70's.
Thanks for the help

The .32 HE would date from about 1951. With the box and docs, it could be worth something as a collector piece even if the finish is not perfect. Not that I am encouraging you to consider selling it -- I think family heirlooms should stay in the family, where they will always be valued more highly than any market could value them. If you did find a gun like yours at auction, I suspect it might get hammered around $500 (less or more depending on how many serious bidders there are).

Someone with better knowledge than I possess should propose a value for the Model 37. My sense is that the J-frames with three-inch barrels get a value kick over the two-inch guns. Your proposed dating is about right, though I think it might slide a little closer to the late '70s -- 1978, maybe.

And yes, welcome to the forum!

the red box, 2in. 32 sounds sweet. they are desireable guns, and interest in them is growing every day. the correct box and papers is icing on the cake! definitely a $500 gun, if it is in nice condition. probably more. i would sure like to have it (or one just like it!).

around here the 3-inch barrel hurts the value on the 37s a little, and unless it is pristine, they just don't seem to bring much more than $250-$300 or so.

good luck with them, and post us up some pics!
