WILL J-frame grips fit a .32 H-Ejector?
I tried Mod I-frame grips, they fit but are hard to find/buy.
Will Round-Butt J-frame grips fit without modification?
Thanks in advance, TACC1.

J frame grips are maybe 3/16" longer than I frame grips. They'll bolt right onto an I frame, but will overhang at the bottom of the butt. I hate when that happens....
If yours is a post-war gun, send me your postal address by PM and I'll send you a pair of factory (diamond) magnas. If you like 'em, pay me what you think they're worth. If not, send 'em back. No strings..... These aren't 'mint', but they're not junk....

Wheelgun hit it on the nose. (and with a gracious offer too!) It will not help if you are looking for that "original" look, but one trick to remember is any jframe grip that covers the bottom of the grip will also work on an iframe.
Related question for the experts. Will any the older 32 grips (i.e. new departure) fit the i frame? (I'm guessing "no".)

Depends- what era is the 32 HE, and what era are the J frame grips?
In 1953, ALL the small frame guns were modernized by lengthening the grip frame and enlarging the trigger guard.
So, up to 1953, I frame and J frame grips interchange.
After, 1953, I frame and J frame grips interchange.
From 50-53, J frames had the short grips.

Here's a picture of a 32 HE (Pre-30) which is an improved I frame and shows how much the grips overhang the frame.
Same gun with J frame stocks modified, (base sanded down flush to base of grip frame). These fit the hand pretty well and enhance the shooting. I've never been able to find a pair of original I frame stocks for it. But, I haven't been looking real hard either.

wheelgun 610;
Thank you for your kind offer, but I think I'll pick up some grips
at one of the shows here in Wisconsin this weekend, and try to
modify them myself. Your grips, even if not pristine, might get butchered
by my efforts, and I'd never feel right about it. It's weak of me, I know.
Thanks for setting me straight, except now I realise, I don't have
enough j-frames!! I'll have to take care of that little oversight!
I appreciate the pic of the H-E with different shoes, too. As soon
as I get my computer fixed, I'll post pics of my 1903 with the old and
new stocks. This'll be a good weekend!! TACC1

I've been called just about everything but an expert, but since the experts haven't arrived yet, I'll go out on a limb and say you might be surprised that the answer is yes - (at least up till the point in time Lee mentioned in his earlier reply....)
Keep in mind, this is just my 2¢ worth, and there are no money back guarantees....

So i assume a person could put i frame round but grips on a round butt j frame? I like the looks of the black plastic logo grips.

Welcome aboard from Wyoming.
I think your assumption would be correct if (and only if) you're talking about a "baby j" (pre-1953) J-frames. After 1953 the grip frames on the I and J frames were a bit longer than the era of the I-frame black plastic logo grips you mentioned.
Cheers,
Bob

Yes, I agree with Bob above.
Actually any I frame black plastic grips from 1896 are the same size and interchange with Baby J frames.
The break top 38 S&Ws (but not the 32s) and the .38 Perfected Model black grips will also interchange.

I or J frame size does not determine Grip frame and stock size:
Pre model 1953 Transitional and Improved I frames, and Baby J frames have the same size grip frame lengths (and small trigger guards).
Model of 1953 New I frames and New J frames, again both have the same size NEW 1/8" longer grip frame length and larger egg shaped trigger guards.
