Default New dumb guy question

Hello All, I'm new and have a dumb question. I know that J frames were not rated to fire +p ammunition until the 1990's, but what about K frames? I have a 4 screw model 10. Is it safe to shoot +p? If not the 4 screw, I also have 70's and 80's 38 special K frames. Is it ok in them?

Thanks in advance, Best, Joe

Its OK. Everyone was a FNG at one time or another. The old rule was any model number gun was OK for +P. Its been twisted beyond any sense in this day and age. If you've got a K frame gun thats tight and solid, it will handle +P ammo. Maybe the Model 12s could be an exception for Ks.

There have been guys who have been offended at the suggestion and they try to run an ungodly number of overloads through Js, just to see if they can. Usually they do it with out a lot of trouble.

In this day and age, if you want to shoot abusive loads, just go out and buy an Magnum. Keeps everyone happy.
