Default New Old M&P 5 screw question

Hi Guys,

Quick question, I have a M&P 38 5 screw I picked up in like mint condition, looks hardly fired. I have put about 100 rounds through it the last few days and noticed one thing, there is some very small copper chips inside the barrel down the lenght of the barrel. They come right out when cleaning with a patch. Everything on the revolver locks up tight and a gunsmith checked the cylinder alignment and it looked good. I was shooting federal 130grn FMJ and Independance 130grn FMJ. I noticed no spitting out the gap and the things shoots right on. Should I be worried?

Default NEW OLD M&P 5 SCREW

COPPER IS FROM THE FMJ BULETS NOT THE GUN. WAS TOLD TO SHOOT LEAD BULLETS IN MY 1905 M&P 38 SPECIAL. COPPER WILL WEAR THE RIFELING IN THE BARREL. SO I AM TOLD HERE.

Jacketed bullets are more abrasive than plain lead, but the 130 gr FMJ factory loads are pretty mild and I wouldn't be concerned about what you are seeing. Enjoy your new gun!

Yep, as stated there is no copper used in the manufacture of that gun so the flakes are from the jackets. Nothing wrong with shooting lead standard velocity ammo in that fine gun. I've heard the abrasive nature of copper will accelerate wear, but standard loads shouldn't harm the rifling be they lead or copper.
