LGS 1947 M&P 3 1/2" barrel
Was stopping by a not so local gunshop and found an old M&P said to be dating to 1947 (SN 912696). Locks up tight, zero rust, screws not buggered, and finish very good. The front sight was beveled and ridged at one time but they seemed to do a good job. There was a zip tie around the hammer and the owner's wife was reluctant to remove it without the owner who was to return "shortly." Unfortunately I was in a rush I had to leave. My question is how rare is a 3 1/2 inch and how can I tell if it has been re-blued? The hammer and trigger are still case hardened. The bluing has a nice patina as I may expect but it seems to be in better shape than I would expect for 68 years old. Barely a turn line and the recoil shield is also barely scratched. Some light holster wear at the muzzle which is no problem, other than that, real nice shape. Diamond magna grips look the age but are in good shape. Sorry no pics. Did no have my phone with me. Price: $595. Thanks.
