Default grips on a 1948 vintage K22

I am picking up a 1948 K22 on Wednesday. It seems the grips are different than my 1957 vintage K22. They are more full at the top and less rounded. Could this be correct?

Thanks

Aaron

Remove the grips and check the serial number stamped inside grip. The early magna grips had a sharper edge on the upper flare while later ones are more rounded.

If the serial numbers match the frame you know these are the original grips.

Hope this helps.

This is my 1948 vintage K22 and these are the correct and matching grips for the gun.

Yes, that could be correct. The tops of postwar magna stocks had what are called "sharp shoulders" on them. Starting in the late '40s and through the early '50s, the stock profiles softened somewhat, and by 1957 the tops of magna stocks had almost a quarter-round appearance rather than the folded or creased look from 10 years earlier.

I replied in your other thread also.

Here are my grips on K-1193. The early post-war K-22's had shoulders that were less rounded with shaper edges, IMO.
