I found a Victory model that is stamped with US property markings and British Proof marks. advertised as a Lend Lease agreement revolver. anyone familiar with this?
Price seems steep but very curious

It is possible it is what it is being represented as, but more information would be helpful. Is it a 5" barrel .38/200 or a 4" barrel in .38 Special? Even more helpful would be a serial number, or at least a serial number range. Can you describe the British proof marks more completely, as well as the U.S. property marking?
Also, how steep is steep on the pricing?

Its stamped 38 S&W CTG. Its a 5 in and stamped UNITED STATES PROPERTY across the top strap.
British proof marks are a crown with what looks like DNP below it. then 3 1/2 .38 and the letters TAUSPER 767"
They are asking 699.00
I didn't get the serial number. any of this help?

I'd say that price is outrageous with a capital O.

I agree with Goony. Sounds like it is a lend lease Victory, chambered for the shorter 38 S&W cartridge aka .380-200. Ammo is still available but not as easy to find as is 38 spl.
I've seen several of these sell for around $300 at local auctions. VG condition and one even had a correct canvas holster rig. Listed prices on Gun Broker for these are higher but those that actually sell usually are under $400. At $699, the one you're looking at is just plain ridiculous.

Thanks all, i thought it was out of line but wanted to check with those that knew more than me. It's not really in that good of shape, blueing is very worn, so I guess I will pass on this one.
Thanks!!

Pass, by all means! It is a Lend Lease gun and the reason it has British proof marks is that it was sold in Britain by a British surplus gun dealer after WW2, and not originally exported to the US. Lend Lease guns were not proofed as long as they were in Military ownership, but when they became surplus and available to the British civilian population, they had to be proof to be legally sold in Britain.
