That's a very fine example. Mine is #7920 and shipped to Abercrombie and Fitch on December 12, 1947.
Not the greatest pic. Prewar Eubanks holster.

Good looking revolver! Congratulations on the score.
My avatar up there to the left of my forum handle shows the MADE IN U.S.A. line from 14784, my first (but not my last!) K-22.
Your stocks appear not to be numbered, which is a little unusual. But the sharp shoulder design points to early postwar manufacture (1946- about 1950), so they are appropriate to the gun.

FYI once you master the double action trigger that sucker will shoot, I put nearly all 6 shots in one hole just below the bullseye at 25 yards at an indoor range with a beat to hell one just like that.
and they were the first 6 shots by the way.

And yes the K-22 addiction has officially kicked in.

Great looking one liner. Very clean finish and nice case coloring on the hammer and trigger. Mine spent most of it's life as a working gun out West and isn't nearly as nice as yours, but it shoots like a champ.

WOW, Nimrod44, what a cool serial number for a S&W. Especially for one of the most popular revolvers that ever came out of Springfield, Massachusetts.
I found one with the serial number K 1722 that I thought was neat since the K 22 eventually became the model 17.

Congratulations on your aquisition and WELCOME ABOARD the "One Liner" club !
(FYI) my 5 digit 1948 one liner also has no serial number stamped into the inside grip area (If that meens anything).
Nimrod44..
Your K22 is also in the "Post War Large Ejector Knob" club.
The level above that is the "Post War K22 3 digit SN" club which I am SADLY not a member of yet.
Was S&W still offering the K22 taper barrel Masterpiece as late as 1955 ?

Very nice K22's in the starting post and nice ones all the way around from everyone. I have a 1958ish fairly mint K22 that is a tapered barrel. It will shoot 1 1/4 inch grooups at 25 yards from a rest.
I will someday pare down my S&W collection and when I do I will have only .22s left. I am beginning to like shooting a .22 over a lot of anything else.

Boy, all these early K22's make mine look like a late model
Serial #24367. I've never gotten a letter, so I don't know when it shipped, but probably sometime in '48. The grips are numbered to the gun.
It will shoot one hole groups if I do my part.

Found my one liner about 6 months ago at a gunshow in WPB.
K 18529 probably shipped in 1948 but havent lettered it yet.
Followed by this 4 digit K 2684 at the annual SCSW meeting held in Orlando this year courtesy of our own "Handejector".
Now if I could only find that elusive 2nd model...

Misty ,
our guns are only 74 numbers apart and were probably on the work bench together at S&W 63 years ago.
Nimrod 44, your 4 digit serial K 1852 is similar to my later serial K 18529.

Man, I just bought my first k-22 and it's a 1 liner # 10036.
haven't got home to pull the grips but all the other numbers match.
Great shape
Pics to follow.
1/2 hour after meeting a guy in the wholesale sports parking lot I met another guy at a different location and
Sold my 40 s & w bhp for the same price.
I'm happy!

The order came down from the front office to go to the four-line address block in April of 1948. By May the first four-line guns were appearing. There is no exact serial number that divides the one-liners from the four-liners. Roughly speaking, the four-line rollmarks begin to appear about K25000, but there are guns with much higher serial numbers that still have single-line address blocks.
