5" 1950 Target .44 Spl LETTER ARRIVED
I showed this gun awhile back but didn`t know if it was original or not. Got the letter today. Good news.

wonderful
What a nice sixgun!
It is a shame that S&W devised such an ideal revolver then produced so few of them. Same story with the 3" RB M-19 and a few others.

Congratulations on your acquisition. My wife is from central Wisconsin. I remeber dropping into Point Sporting Goods in the early 1960's.

My favorite barrel length in one of my two favorite calibers. I am green, yellow, pink and purple with envy! (smile)
Congratulations on a fine acquisition.

When I was a kid a neighbor of ours was a former Mayor of Stevens Point, WI. His last name was Vincent. Being a kid I only knew him as Mr. Vincent. Who knows, maybe he was the orignal owner!

Very nice! My 5 inch 1950 Target is a bit older, S86130, shipped in February, 1952. Mine was shipped to my home town, SLC, and had made it's way to Lenexa, Kansas, where I bought it from Jim Supica's Old Town Station in 1996.

I found a 6.5 with pits at the muzzle and made a 5". Then I found a real one that lettered. I have always thought 5" was the ideal barrel length on an N-frame. I still re-read Keith's Sixguns each winter and my favorite photo may be the one of Ted firing Elmer's 5" 1950 Tgt. You have a great gun there, ENJOY!

Nice gun! What was it that Jimmy Carter said about having known lust in his heart? That might apply here, although probably not to him.

That's a beauty and good to hear it lettered as original. Definetly a keeper.

Add my name to the 5" 44 Spl crowd! Seems the ideal length! Myself, needing to settle for 5" 44 Fourth Model hand ejectors. In that Model 21 & 'pre', the most common barrel length! But not to cry about owning a few nice ones including Transition models!
All these 44 Specials, indeed 'special'!
My take
