Default Help with 22/32

This gun was my dad's. I can remember him buying it used from a local dealer, I think in the 50's...He always called it a 22/32 target. Factory nickel, original grips were a bit worse for wear, and I replaced them with these..Still have the originals numbered to the gun..Serial number is 23288..Any help with date and actual model would be appreciated.. serial number is on barrel, cylinder, and frame.

After 1957, this was called the Model 35. From 1953 to 1957 you can call it a pre-35, but its model ID is just what you called it: the .22/32 Target Model of 1953. I think that serial number would put it just before the adoption of model numbers, so you could call it a Pre-35. On the other hand, if you swing open the cylinder and see MOD. 35 stamped on the frame, then it is a model-marked gun.

Default Factory Nickel??

Werecat,

If your Revolver is indeed Factory Nickel-Plated,it is a somewhat Scarce Variation of it!! Do you see an "N" Stamping anywhere on the the Revolver?? It will most likely be found on the Barrel Flat near the Ser.No. Stamping,on the Frame under the Left Side Grip, under the Extractor Star or the Cylinder & possibly in the Crane/Yoke Area!! If you could post a photo or so of those areas it would certainly help identifying if it's a Factory Nickel Finish!! Hope you'll post a few more photos of the areas in question for us to see!!

Default Factory nickel

There is not an "N" stamped anywhere on the gun, I have looked before..Far as I know it is a factory finish..Only other markings on gun are the numbers 655 inside the crane..Could this be year of manufacture?

werecat 25, You might want to order a factory historical letter for your gun. It will tell you where it was shipped originally, the finish and other specifications of the gun. Since the gun is a family heirloom, it would be nice to have the letter with the gun as it is passed down to future family members. There's a link on this Forum for the letter request form. Ed.

werecat,

It's highly unlikely since no "N's" were found present that it was shipped in Nickel, but as Ed stated above,I fully agree a Factory Letter is in order!! Being it's an Early Pre-35,the "N Stampings" may very well have been overlooked at the time!! It's happened before,so I believe of it were mine I'd proceed with the Letter Request to know for sure!! It's the only way to verify it's Original Finish positively!!
