Since I started this thread some time ago, I acquired one more I-frame. The pictures below have taken recently to confirm that it's not nickel, but a high polish blue, and to show the box. This is a 22/32 kit gun with a unique history. The frame was serialed in 1940, but the gun was not shipped until 1951. I contains both pre-war and post-war parts and mechanisms. Only a very few were produced in this manner, making it quite a S&W collector jewel. It walked in off the street at a small gun show a few years ago, and I had to have it. It's in near-perfect condition. I then found an original-era correct box for it, thanks to a member of this forum.

I own very few I frames - but in keeping with John's wonderful transitional Kit Gun (pretty rare birds), here is another one with the hard to find narrow tip SAT that came with post war guns that sported pre-war sights (BTW, the SAT came to me from another gracious member of this forum, along with a Long Tube Pre-27 Gold Box ):
