Owned one years ago and traded it off. I need to rectify that soon.

Interesting episode, but this time his research was off. Also really blasted through the Triple Lock history, with the most noticeable mistake saying they originally .45 Colt.

Watched video. Failed to mention the Commercial Model sold between the wars. I have one. Refinished when I bought it. Haven’t lettered but feel it is from late 1920s early 1930s. All 5 serial numbers match plus grips numbered to the revolver. Commercial models have small S&W logo on left side of frame. Mine also has the patent dates on the trigger and hammer for the case hardening process. Those were eliminated by WWII as patent had expired.

Not a bad presentation. Mine is in the 40000 range and shows lots of use and has postwar modifications to the front and rear sights. Bore is not so good but it shoots well enough. I'm 99% certain it saw use with a local PD after WWII.

Ian pointed out most of the proof marks but missed the one on the underside of the barrel (with serial number there too).

Very cool.

My 1917/1937 is all matching serial #'s from the 1946 batch of 1920's parts.

My Colt 1917 was made in 1919. Both are a lot of fun to shoot.

A few years back I picked up a TR Model 22-4.

Same situation here. At least it's a pre-model 25

I’ve shown this before but can’t help myself:

The Colt was one of the first additions to my collection. The Smith & Wesson didn’t show up until last year … not that I wasn’t looking! They were accepted by the U.S. Army in June and November of 1918, respectively.
