Default Another Happy 357 Magnum (pre-27) Seller

$4228.57 (plus tax and fees) for a six inch 1956 pre-27 with non-factory box. Great condition, nice gun, very happy seller, perhaps some buyer's remorse in the morning though. Highest price I've seen for one I think.

Buyer's remorse? He should be put on suicide watch this morning. That is a very good example and I do like the red square front sight, but come on

I’m very fond of my 3-1/2” .357 Magnum, but if someone offered me $4,300 for it with the original factory box I would be hard pressed to say “no”. That’s nearly 150% of what I paid just over 12 months ago.

STRANGE-
In Pics 1, 3, 4, 8, 9, and 10 I cannot see the red post on the front sight. It appears in Pics 14 and 15, but it does not look like the regular Red Post which has a rabbet for the post to fit into.
The grips appear to be refinished with rounded top corners and we know that is not how S&W stamped numbers......

Lee

When I enable the magnifier, there is a very thin red smear, like the edge of a piece of red tape, appearing in all those early pictures.

Lots of sanding marks on those grips for sure & funny lookin' #'s
.. and isn't the RH grip supposed to be ser#'d instead of the LH grip?

When you mouse over a lot of the pics and enlarge them, is the stuff that looks like lite pitting under the blue just that?, or maybe just dust on the surface of the high gloss polish.
Perhaps caught on some oil or museum quality preservation coating.
I see it's a 'white glove' only piece, so maybe some fuzz from the gardening gloves came off on the metal surface.

Nice gun and box, but I think someone tried to overstamp the numbers on the right stock, couldn't make it look right so they scratched it up and stamped the left, although with completely incorrect tool. But listor also didn't make any claims with regards to originality so... But still, $4k plus?

No comment as to the value of an almost perfect .357 Magnum. What I would like to know is how do some of these revolvers get this mirror, almost chrome finish? I have a couple that are beautiful but they are a deep blue color. Is it the lighting? Is it Pledge? Picture attached

I think a combination of the lighting angle and the very excellent polishing job done by S&W in those days. Here are a few pictures of my 5 inch from the same period without the nice lighting and expert photography but it has that same deep blue mirror finish that can be seen even in my poor photos.

A little Renaissance Wax doesn't hurt either although this one doesn't have any on it.

Upon further examination, that's not the red post I thought it was.

I good with higher prices all around.. but only when I have enough guns.
After that, let’s talk ‘em up and up.
For now, while I’m buying, yeah that’s too much.
