Default King SuperTarget K22

Last Photos for the Holiday Break - The camera battery died and I have got to get some work done (BTW the light box gifted from the wife is one of my favorite all time Christmas presents - I have not had this much fun with a Christmas present since I got about 50 feet of Hot Wheels track, a bunch of new Hot Wheels cars and a clamp to attach the track to my fireplace mantle)

Here is an early K22 Outdoorsman tricked out by King:

With a Box (for composition sake...)

Enjoy

Every time one of these King Super Target revolvers shows up on this forum I go absolutely frantic! Why can't I find one?

Nice, very nice.

Sigh. Guess I'll just keep looking.

Actually it is a Brass Post in the front sight. Very bright when it is polished up. The hammer is cockeyed, but I did not shoot a photo of it before I put all of my stuff away...

Is the hammer twisted off-center (bent)? If so, show off the capabilities off that light-box again, please.

Not a photo, but... here is a link to the light box:

http://www.amazon.com/Idirectmart-Ph...312729&sr=8-14

It is a very neat photobox setup and the price is more than right... It took a litle while to figure how to set it up as it came with no instructions. And it also took a while to press (with a warm steam iron) the back drops (it comes with white, red, black and blue).

I use a Maxell tripod and a Canon EOS 40D with a Canon Zoom Lens EF 24-70mm 1:2.8 L USM and a $6 Digital Concepts Remote Shutter Release to make sure my camera is perfectly still. The final piece of "low tech" equipment I use is a 22"X28" white poster board with a hole (slightly larger than the circumference of my camera lens) cut out in the middle. I slip this over my lens to direct additional light at the subject and keep myself out of the reflection of the gun flats.

Hope that this helps...

RKmesa,
I love your gun. Did it letter with the grip adaptor? When did it ship? I also have a King modified K-22 Outdoorsman and have shown it many times. Roy Jinks, the Smith & Wesson Historian, wrote the following about my K-22 Outdoorsman.

“We have researched your Smith & Wesson K-22 Outdoorsman or K-22 First Model, First Production Group, caliber .22 Long Rifle, in company records which indicate that your handgun, with serial number 632157, was shipped from our factory on January 17, 1931, and delivered to Folsom Arms Co., New York City. NY. The records indicate that this firearm was shipped with a 6 inch barrel, blue finish, and checkered walnut grips. This shipment was for five units of this model and they were billed at $22.13 each. This revolver has been modified by the addition of a King super ramp and sight."

What a beautiful King Super Target!!! I have seen your photo of it before, but I never tire looking at it. In answer to your questions, the gun does NOT letter with the grip adapter. I had one that I picked up a few years ago, and it just "looked right" on this gun, so for now that is where it lives.

Roy's letter on this gun states the following:

“We have researched your Smith & Wesson K-22 Outdoorsman or K-22 First Model, caliber .22 Long Rifle, in company records which indicate that your handgun, with serial number 639380, was shipped from our factory on March 18, 1932, and delivered to Smith Brothers Hardware Co., Columbus, OH. The records indicate that this firearm was shipped with a 6 inch barrel, blue finish, and checkered walnut grips. This shipment was for three units and they were billed at $23.36 each."

I picked this gun up from one of our forum members in May or June of this year, after looking for one for a long time! They really are great looking modifications to an already great looking gun.

The tricked out full King targets are very nice looking guns. Love the pre-war non ribbed barrels but the King guns are the ultimate. Larry

I still have not had time to get a photo of the hammer, BUT here is a photo montage of the hammer (along with some other views) taken by Pace40, who was kind enough to transfer ownership of this fun revolver.

Also, a link to the thread where the photo is posted and where you can see and learn more about these King Super Targets:

Default King guns

Glad this thread resurfaced--not a .22, and not a Smith, but it is a King Super Target. Didn't have a KST, and can't afford a PW K-32, or at least find one to buy--so this one sort of fills the bill. Thanks Jim, Bob, and Mike for your input on this one.

'39 vintage Colt Officers Model Heavy Barrel .32.

I have since taken a few more photos of this gun showing a closer up of the front and rear sights along with the cock-eyed hammer. Here you go...

Can't find a S&W King, but I found this Colt Woodsman, shipped straight from Colt to King in San Francisco.

Great guns! There is nothing to compare with a Super Target! Mine (I will kick myself forever for not picking up the matching 22 that was in the case with it):
