+1000!!

Such a repair might be worth the expense as a project gun for a beginning 'smith. Like parts, experience can be worth far more than the purchase price.

I don't know. Old guns aren't just about the monetary value to me. Some things in life are just worth doing. But that's a personal feeling and not something I would want to push on someone else.

I'd stop and look that one over. I love project guns,,maybe a little too much.
But for the right price that'd come home and get fixed.
A good base gun for another engraved one. Can't hurt it anymore.
Some ivory,,maybe nickle or silver plate, 5in bbl,,,,,,

I cannot agree more. This could make a great project building block.

Cutting tools and collectible firearms are a bad combination.

I started with the "Fitz" idea for this 1921 .45 Colt. Shortened the barrel but when I got to the trigger guard I had second thoughts. I just can't see a practical reason for cutting off the forward half of the TG bow. Maybe for a man with very large hands, heavy or long fingers it solves a problem. Fitz was a big man and that may have been the reason in the first place.
