Default Got a K22 help me learn more please!

I picked up a K-22 revolver from a guy I work with that was needing some cash. I didn't know anything about these guns until now and still don't know much so please help.

The bottom of the grip has a k then a space and 326571. It has the factory grips with the diamond around the screw. it has a screw in the grip panels, one in the front of the grip, one in the front of the trigger guard, one on top of the sight and one to adjust it, then a small one on the top above the cylinder, it also had to screws in the side (one below the cylinder but above the trigger guard and one sort of above the trigger guard but back from the trigger. Hopefully I explained it well enough and didnt confuse everyone too much. it has a 6" barrel and what looks to be a widened trigger platform added on. Overall the blueing is in good shape and lockup is good. I have shot it once and it shoots great and is a tack driver.

I would like to know what the gun is worth and anything else anyone can tell me I would greatly appreciate.

Oh I also got a leather holster says made by bauer bros. and it has a belt with bullet loops around it. If anyone can place a value on it I would appreciate that also.

Thank you in advance!

If it helps I was told it is a pre model 17 5-screw version with no serial number on the crane.

By the serial number you've given, your revolver most likely shipped in 1958, so should not be a pre-17. If you open the cylinder, in the recessed area on the frame should be stamped a model number, in this case "Mod. 17" - as to value, posting photos would be helpful in making an accurate assessment.

Welcome to the forum. That serial number is right on the cusp of the transition from non-model-marked revolvers to model marked. If it is a Pre-17, it is one the last ones of that class. If it is marked MOD 17 on the inner frame surface revealed when the cylinder swings out, it is one of the first guns so marked.

S&Ws are usually described as three-screw, four-screw, or five-screw revolvers. These categories refer to the number of screws in the sideplate plus the one in the frame directly in front of the trigger guard. I think you have a four-screw gun, which means it has three in the sideplate. One of the sideplate screws is probably hidden under the right stock panel. The other screws you mention in your description do not figure in this classification system.

K-22s from the 1950s are sought-after guns, so one like that one with original stocks and at least 95% of its finish remaining would probably be a $600-650 gun. The trigger addition you mentioned is called a trigger shoe. These were add-ons available in decades past to turn standard triggers into broader target triggers. It adds nothing to the value of the gun, but does indicate that someone once tried to upgrade this gun's performance as a target revolver.

Show some pictures! Everyone has bragging rights here.

Welcome to the forum, you've come to the right place to learn more about your gun. K-22's have a great following here, and we look forward to pictures of yours. Be sure to post pictures of the leather, too.

With that SN. it is a four screw gun. There should be no screw at the top of the sideplate next to the rear sight. A screw there makes it a 5 screw. With no model mark it is one of the last ones made before the mod-17.
