Perfect sets can reach $150-$175. Most "nice" sets fetch $100-$125. Demand is high, and supply is low.

They are desireable because people w/ vintage N frame's want their guns to look original and have nice accessories.
The diamond Magnas range from 45-65 years old (approx.). Like most things the older ones are more valuable but even the latest models in great condition will bring a premium.
The special early features are "high shoulder" and transitional longer length to the butt.
If you post the serial number it will help identify what you have.
We like pictures too.

I had a set of Mod 58 PC magnas for sale here for months. Nobody would pay the price which I reduced to $110 shipped. They are looking for $75 sets in good condition. This is a post 1968 mint set without the diamond centers and terrific grain.
I paid about $120 for them. Maybe I paid too much, but it seems nobody wanted to buy them at fair value, only at a bargain price. I realize they are not the diamond center type but they are still scarce stocks.
I may list them on Gunbroker and be done with it.
VM, please remember I need a set of K frame round butt diamond center magnas for my 1955 M&P snubby. If you find a set please contact me!

Malysh, I don't think your price was out of line. I've sold a few sets of N PC magnas here, and $75 seems to be the going rate, but they were later versions with silver washers and plain wood. An earlier set like yours, with black washers, no serial, nicer wood and in what appears to be mint shape should certainly be worth a bit more. I think you're wise to hold on to them at anything less than your asking price.

Thanks for giving your opinion. -db-
After listing them for 10-11 weeks I requested the ad be closed today.
Like I said, I might have overpaid for them but I still think they are worth at least $100.

I agree about ebay prices.
I watch em on there and nice sets are consistently 1 bill and up. Very nice sets are bill and a half.

Guns numbered around S123xxx were being shipped in 1954-1955.

Pay particular attention to the very top edge of the grip. Called the 'horn'.
The grips will chip at the top edge and will de-value quickly the bigger the chip.
The one picture shows just such a chip, so I might classify these
as 'shooter grade' as opposed to presentation grade.
Good pictures on a gun will help sell them. Especially detailed photos of the horn mentioned.
Good luck

I turned them over to my local gun shop where the manager called them perfect. He thinks he has a buyer. He figures $75 or so. I may get less than max but won't have all the romance of sending, waiting, etc.

Thanks, Dick!
I would think Mike has already read the post. We've talked about this before via phone. He's a great guy, BTW.
He probably doesn't have a set at the moment. I know he didn't last time I checked.

Would the N frame diamond magna or the 58 PC be a replacement for a Model 520 NYSP . My 520 did not have the original stocks when I bought it. Thanks.

You want non-diamond PC magnas for a 520.
