Default Picture please, period 22 Mag. ammo

S&W came out with the M48 in 1959. Maybe a year or two before Winchester came out with their first 22 mag. M61 pump gun.Did anyone beat S&W to the punch on the first 22 magnum? Ruger?? Anyone have a picture of a 1959 vintage box of this ammo? Thanks, Big Larry

Colt started production of the Frontier Scout single action revolver in .22 Magnum in 1959.

Strange that it is a Winchester cartridge and it appears they were the last to make a rifle for it. Ruger, Colt, and S&W, all produced revolvers for it in 1959. The Winchester M61 in 22 mag. came out in 1960 or 1961. Thanks for all the great info. I have located a box of 1959 vintage Rem. Now I need a period box of Winchester. Thanks, Big Larry
