please help me id this pistol...
Two weeks ago, I bought a Winchester 1892 levergun made in 1919 and chambered in 32-20, then this weekend a friend sold me a revolver to go with it. I have lots of rifles & pistols, and reload all of them, but this is the first revolver I've owned.
I think it is a 1915 S&W K frame Hand Ejector. It is double/single action, chambered in 32-20, and has serial number 663XX.
I now have two shooters that are 93 and 97 years old. Each has an excellent bore and tight action... and each has been carried all over the place, so the finish is worn. I'll make up some light loads with 77 grain lead bullets that can be shot from either one.
What can you tell me about this pistol?
Thank you!

You called it correctly -- .32-20 Hand Ejector, Model of 1905, Fourth Change, or .32 WCF M&P for short. It was shipped about 1916.
Those .32-20s are a lot of fun to shoot, and that one looks to be in pretty good shape.

Welcome!
I'd love to see photos of your '92. Feel free to post it in the Lounge; we quite a few Winchester fans on the forum.

Don't feel you need to stay with light bullets with those firearms. Chances are both will shoot better with lead bullets in the 100-118gn range. Just make sure you keep the pressures in the accepted range for that handgun and you'll be fine.

Ok, thanks! My reloading manuals have limited choices for heavier bullets, but I am sure I can find other data.

Keep your loads on the moderate side. Look for data for "Revolvers" as "Rifle" data is also out there and your new Hand Ejector may not respond all that well. The revolver likely predates the heat reated cylinders (90,000 or so is the cut off) so you should be cautious... I've seen "ringed" cylinders in these guns from use of older factory "Hi-Vel" or "H-V" ammo intended for rifles. Also avoid the CIL or Dominion loadings from Canada and Upstate New York.
Good luck and have some fun!

I agree. I have three of the 32/20 M&Ps, along with a 1918 92 and one of the early '80s Browning 53s. Shoot the same bullet in all of them. 115 grain lead RNF.

I apologize for posting what may seem like competing threads on Leverguns and two S&W forums, to identify this pistol. Now, I am glad I did... I learned a lot about it. A fellow on Leverguns says it is "a Model of 1905 Hand Ejector, 4th change, the Winchester model." That makes it even more appropriate as the companion to my Winchester 92!
Anyone know if I can get half-moon clips for this pistol?

No, you cannot get half-moon clips, and couldn't use them without modifying the gun for them if they were available.
