Default 1952 38/44 Outdoorsman

I thought I would share my "go to gun" for the last couple of years with you.
I picked it up about five years ago for $350 because of the finish issues. Mechanically it is perfect and highly accurate with my load of a 160 gr SWC w/gas check over 12.0 grs of 2400.
It was shipped September of 1952, my birth year, and came as you see it with original grips numbered to the gun. I've taken several coons and skunks up to 100 yards with this gun. Although I have several other Outdoorsman in much nicer condition, this one and I have "hit it off".
A Galco shoulder rig makes carry in the field rather painless.

I bet with that load you get close to .357 mag performance! I bet the coons and skunks can't tell!
I just love the 38/44's with or without sights!

Some days I don't think my eyes could see the rising sun at 100 yards, but I agree that a heavy-frame .38 target revolver is a wondrous gun. Everybody should have one.

Cool that you have one with a red post front sight. My Pre-23 has a straight Patridge blade up front. I have a transitional OD from 1946 that has a King reflector sight on it. That's a little easier for me to work with.

Excellent gun. Congratulations. Everybody should be fortunate enough to have a revolver that, regardless of surface appeal...

Just. Simply. Works.
