Default Coupla 38/44's off the consumer market today

Boys, I loaded up with trade fodder and went into town in search of a "beater" 38/44. Lawandorder told me the other night I just had to have one. When I got there he had a beater and a really nice 6 1/2" bbl. in great shape. Not to bore you with details I got rid of a coupla old bullseye guns, with scopes and now have two of my Holy Grails. 4" is serial #S 105866 (1955/56) and has mere mention of Pueblo Police Department under MY stag grips. 6 1/2" is serial
# S 92688 (1952/53). Grips #, etc. Really nice 1950's (pre model 20's). I feel great this evening.

Regards

Bill

If you want to 'unload' that Pueblo gun to a guy in AZ (me), my wife is from Pueblo and told me I could store it in our safe for you

Thumbs up Great score on those two beauties Bill.

I have been eyeballing them on the puter and am very appreciative that you have removed that temptation.

You know I am weak when it comes to good ol guns and great leather.

By the way your pkg came in Amigo, hope mine made it to you! Will email later.

Those are both great revolvers, but the 6.5-inch version really makes my heart beat faster. Congratulations on a fine score!

Great looking HDs! I have one that went to Pueblo PD but it is a model marked 20. The 6.5 looks great. Can you give us a description of the back strap? Washington State Police got some in the 90K serial number range and if your back strap is gray, then it may have been one. Anyway, great guns but I'm bias!

1Aspenhill,

There is nothing on the backstrap. The markings are "Pueblo Police" on the side of the frontstrap. It is covered by the grips and not seen unless grips are removed. It is rather crudely done, more than an electorpencil. Obivously freehand with some sort of engraving chisel I would imagine. The backstrap is blue just as the gun.

Thanks for the kudos guys,

Regards

Bill

Those are both great guns in wonderful condition, but that post war 6" is a very rare bird indeed.

Congratulations.

Tony is a fine friend indeed...

Those are both very very nice. I also have a model 20 marked Pueblo PD revolver. It is one of my favorite shooters.

You did very well.

Just got back from the range. Shot the new Heavy Dutys today. Boys, I have owned a lot of S&W in my day, but this is a first for the HD. It will not be the last though. I would have brought the targets for you to see but they are steel and somewhat difficult to wag around. I am sold on the Pre Model 20's.

Regards

Bill
