Default Re-Nickel

Is it correct to say that the factory no longer re-blues or re-nickles? I am thinking of buying a nice 2nd Model 44 Hand Ejector that is mechanically excellent but lost much of its nickel (about a 60%) without rust or pitting. It would make a great shooter outdoor carry gun with re-nickeled finish and stag grips.

In 98% with box it would make a beautiful collector piece, but it's not and I don't think a nickel gun with flaking finish is going to appreciate.

Is there somewhere to go for a good refinishing?

The factory won't work on any firearm that isn't model marked (pre 1957 or so).

That is exactly what the factory indicated to me.

The work shown on their website looks terrific. They manage to keep all the markings and edges crisp.
