Oklahoma Highway Patrol 38/44 and SWHF
I purchased 38/44 serial number 50775 that letters as being shipped to Oklahoma Highway Patrol in a shippment of 25 simular units in June of 1937. I asked Smith and Wesson Historical Foundation to check scanned documents for any information. Following is Bill Cross's letter about what he found and I received 6 pages of information about the gun and shipment. If you are interested in the history of Smith and Wesson firearms join and support SWHF.

Congratulations on an outstanding find.
I located one of those a few years ago from the same shipment and as bad as I wanted to keep it, it let a friend who was an OHP Trooper purchase it.
If I am remembering correctly it was bought for the first group of OHP Troopers when the Agency was first formed.
