A poor man's triple lock
This is the second Spanish copy that I have had. The first one was in much better condition and, externally, a perfect copy. When you removed the sideplate, however, you saw Colt lockwork. This one at least copied the S&W internals. This was issued by the Sante Fe (Argentina) police, made by TAC (Trucaola). The markings on the top of the barrel are shown; the left side says "FOR 44 SPECIAL AND US SERVICE CTG."

Very interesting!
"BEST AMERICAN CARTRIDGES ARE THOSE
THAT FIT BEST THE T.A.C. REVOLVER"
Sounds like that was written by someone whose first language is not English. My guess about the meaning is "the cartridges made by the major US ammo makers are recommended for this revolver."
Thanks for posting this.

Fascinating ! First Spanish .44 I've seen, after several .38s and .32-20s.

Interesting copy. Doug Wesson made a visit to the Eibar area of Spain where most of the Spanish firearm makers had their factories, back in the 20s, and they showed him a T-Lock copy that he said was every bit as good quality as any S&W made. I seen, or owned, several dozen Spanish, or foreign, T-Lock copies over the years and they ranged from pure junk waiting to blow up in your hand, to several very well made high quality specimens, both blue & nickel. Copy Triplelock
These copies must truely be as rare as the S&W revolvers. I have been going to gun shows for at least 35 years and have never seen one. That one appears well made. A very interesting take on a classic 44. I will pay a lot more attention to those Spanish clones from now on. Would love to come across one to add to my 44 collection. Thanks for the education.
