Did you see the Cokes sell on E-bay?
Auction ended and these grips sold for over $400. Am I wrong here or do these Cokes look like the bottoms of them have been shaved off? I know there are a couple of variations in Cokes but I don't recall this being one of those variations. Please tell if I am wrong here or did someone just pay top dollar for a shortened set of Cokes? I hope I am wrong and these are righteous as I would imagine they may have been purchased by a forum member. Just trying to understand these particular Cokes.

I saw them on ebay too and wondered the same. . I only own two sets of Cokes, for comparison, but they don't look like the ebay ones but I believe they may be a tad shorter than my other diamond targets??

Definitely shortened. Although target grips fit me better when shortened.

Cokes were definately modified on base and no mention of it in description.
Buyer was short changed or short butted.

The frenzy on Fleabay continues even in a poor economy. Sometimes hard to figure.

Yes, i was watching them when they were at $150 for the past few days....thought about throwing $200 or so at them but that would have been it.....guess someone wanted them....its a shame they were shortened because they have exceptional grain

I was watching those too. I asked the seller if he thought they were shortened and requested a photo of the butt. The seller told me he didn't know and didn't offer any photos. I THINK they were shortened, but there was a good amount of manufacturing variation in the distance from the checkering to the butt on Cokes. Hopefully, Doc44 will chime in.

I, too, was surprised those brought that much. Note also the mis-shaped diamond on the right-side stock. We've all seen less than perfect diamonds on stocks but that one is really out of whack.

I saw these stocks when they were first listed on ebay. I didn't give them a second look because they had been shortened. Apparently, the winning bidder had no idea they had been altered significantly.

Looks like a lot of us were watching those. When I saw what they sold for,I felt sorry for the buyer. We've all made expensive mistakes while pursuing this hobby of ours. Hopefully the buyer will learn from his.

I saw these go on ebay for $275 the other day. Were they unaltered cokes? Sold on 17 April...item number 390407662605.

Okay, so my mind didn't decieve me this time. I have to admit that the recent Cokes I posted about with the question whether they were Rosewood or GA were purchased off e-bay were for around $250. It was me and one other bidder. They were listed as K frame grips. I knew better.

Those ones looked okay to me other than the crack on the back.

They appear to have possibly been "shaved" a little toward the toe,and of course the crudely-replaced piece of wood at the rear.
